Spit Braai Packages and Prices per Person

All prices include VAT. Children pay the same per-person rate as adults, and Sundays and public holidays add R14 per person. Spit Braai Feast quotes every booking in writing before anything is paid.

What Every Spit Braai Package Includes

• The meat, sized to the guest count: A-grade lamb or beef, pork, or whole chickens
• Roast potatoes in garlic
• Fresh bread rolls
• The spit braai machine and the charcoal
• A gazebo over the serving area
• Serving utensils and chafing trays for the buffet
• Setup and clean-up
• A chef on site for the whole cook

Salads, pap, dessert and crockery are priced per guest, and extra serving staff cost R850 each per event. Both are in the extras tables below.

What the Premium Wedding Package Includes

• Lamb and chicken on the spit, carved at the buffet
• Roast potatoes in garlic and garlic rolls
• A Greek salad and one classic salad
• Malva pudding with custard or cheesecake
• Cutlery and crockery for every guest
• The chef, the machine, the charcoal, a gazebo, chafing trays, setup and clean-up

Bought item by item from the card, the same plate costs R306 to R321 a head; the Premium Wedding package is R272.

Half Lamb and Whole Lamb Spit Braai Prices

Spit Braai Feast portions at about 600 g of carcass weight per guest, bone-in and before cooking. The half lamb comes with the same chef, charcoal, machine, roast potatoes and rolls as the lamb menu. Groups of 21 to 24 take a whole 18 kg lamb at the 25-guest price of R3,750. For a whole lamb the chef arrives five to seven hours before the meal.

A Sunday lamb spit for 50 guests, 4 of them vegetarian, comes to R8,072: R6,900 for 46 lamb plates, R472 for the 4 vegetarian plates and R700 for the Sunday rate.

Deposit, Balance and Cancellation

Every price on the Spit Braai Feast card includes VAT. The booking terms are the same for every menu:

• A 50% deposit secures the date.
• Final guest numbers are due 7 days before the function; numbers can go up after that while the meat can still be adjusted, but not down.
• The balance is due 3 days before the function.
• Cancel more than 30 days before the function and the deposit is refunded in full. Inside 30 days the deposit is kept, because the meat and the chef are booked.
• Moving the date instead of cancelling carries the deposit over to the new date, while that date is open.

Travel Costs

Travel is measured from the Spit Braai Feast base in the Cape Winelands to the venue.

What Changes the Total

1. The meat. Chicken is R116 a head, lamb R150 and beef R245.
2. Guest count. Per-person menus start at 25 guests, and a half lamb covers up to 20 for R2,800; the lamb size follows the count.
3. Extras. Salads, hot sides, dessert, crockery and extra staff, per the tables above.
4. The day. Sundays and public holidays add R14 per person.
5. Travel. Free within 30 km, then a band by distance.

Can You Get a Spit Braai for R100 a Head?

No, not catered with a chef, charcoal and a whole animal. The lowest catered rate on the Spit Braai Feast card is the chicken spit at R116 per person, with potatoes and rolls included. For a smaller budget, the charcoal machine hires on its own from R1,200 for 24 hours.
